Hello all you wonderful food lovers out there! Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by! I’m Jillian, the writer, baker, cook, recipe creator, and amateur (very amateur) photographer of A baJillian Recipes.Though I’m not a classically trained chef, I like to think I know my way around a kitchen pretty well. I grew up with a mom who was patient enough to include her kids when it came to helping out in the kitchen, even if that meant incorporating a few egg shells in the chocolate chip cookie dough or ending up with a really lop-sided chocolate cake. As someone who is mostly self-taught, my experience stems from my addiction to The Food Network as well as my enjoyment in playing with food.
Aside from baking, cooking, and EATING, I also enjoy acting, couponing (I LOVE saving money!!), running, working out, and playing with this little ball of energy.
Her name is Olivia, and she’s basically my child.
I’m from the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon, and no, we’re not as weird as those oddballs on the show, “Portlandia.” However, I am a 90’s kid at heart. Bring on the Neon shorts, Super Soakers, and Skip-Its!
Though I graduated with a degree in Marketing, my true interest has always revolved around baking and acting. I actually made the move down to Los Angeles to pursue acting, and while I did enjoy my time and fun experiences down there, I learned a few things about myself:
1) I NEED seasons – I actually got to the point where I was depressed by how much sun there was.
2) I hate traffic – Traffic is NONSTOP in LA. And drivers are mean…who actually uses their horn?
3) I love my family – When I can’t spend at least 90% of my time with family, I feel incomplete.
These were all reasons enough for me to move back to my true roots. Though a part of me sometimes misses the excitement of LA, as Dorothy says, “There’s no place like home.”
Well, I think that about sums me up! I think…
